A comprehensive introduction to dry and wet dust collectors

Source: Official website   |   Date:2019-08-19

Dust collectorIt can be divided into two categories: dry dust collectors and wet dust collectors.

The commonly used ones at present are cyclone separators, electrostatic precipitators, and bag filters.

Let's introduce each of them below, hoping to be helpful to everyone.

1Dry dust collectorDry dust collectors do not require water as the dust removal medium, accounting for over 90% of all dust removal systems.

The working principle of a dry dust collector: Dust containing gas enters the filter chamber through an open flange at the bottom, and coarser particles directly fall into the ash bin. The dust containing gas is filtered by the filter bag, and the dust is trapped on the bag surface. The clean gas is then transported to the clean gas chamber through the bag mouth and discharged into the atmosphere by a fan. When the dust on the surface of the filter bag continues to increase, the programmable controller begins to work. Pulse valves are opened one by one, allowing compressed air to spray and clean the dust on the filter bag through the nozzle, causing the filter bag to suddenly expand. Under the action of reverse airflow, the dust on the bag surface quickly separates from the filter bag and falls into the ash bin, and the dust is discharged by the ash discharge valve.

Dry dust collectors include: gravity settling chamber, inertial dust collector, electrostatic precipitatorBag dust collectorCyclone dust collector.

IIWet dust collectorA wet dust collector, commonly known as a "water dust collector", is a device that closely contacts a dusty gas with a liquid (usually water), and uses the inertia collision and other effects of water droplets and particles to capture or increase the size of particles.

         Wet dust collectorThe advantages of are:

(1) Due to the simultaneous mass and heat transfer processes occurring during the contact between gas and liquid, this type of dust collector not only has the function of dust removal, but also has the function of flue gas cooling and absorbing harmful gases;

(2) Suitable for handling high temperature, flammable and explosive, and harmful gases;

(3) Normal operation and high purification efficiency;

(4) Can be used for dust and gas accumulation in mist and dust;

(5) Measurement of exhaust volume;

(6) Simple structure, small footprint, and low investment;

(7) Safe operation, convenient operation and maintenance.

The disadvantages of wet dust collectors include:

(1) The mud discharged from the wet dust collector should be treated, otherwise it will cause secondary pollution;

(2) When purifying corrosive gases, chemical aggressiveness is transferred to water, so the sewage system needs to be protected with anti-corrosion materials;

(3) Not suitable for hydrophobic smoke and dust;

(4) For sticky smoke and dust, it is easy to cause blockages in pipes, blades, etc;

(5) Compared to dry dust collectors, they require water consumption and are difficult to treat. Therefore, anti freezing measures should be taken in severely cold areas. Wet dust collector: including spray tower, impact dust collector, Venturi detergent, foam dust collector, water film dust collector, etc
